Since moving to Cornwall in 2017, I have become increasingly inspired by the wildlife and landscapes found beyond the county's famous coastline. The ancient woodland, rivers, hedgerows and open spaces of Bodmin Moor have encouraged me to look more closely at the species that live within these environments and the seasonal changes that shape their lives.

My work focuses on the overlooked details of nature, the subtle colours within a feather, the textures of moss on a riverbank and the changing quality of light across the landscape. Through traditional oil painting, I aim to capture these quiet moments of connection between wildlife and place.

The juvenile dipper represents this approach perfectly. It is not a dramatic or fleeting moment, but a carefully observed scene that invites the viewer to pause and appreciate the extraordinary detail contained within an everyday encounter with British wildlife.
